The new Brady Bunch came over after some last minute emails. They played a show with good buddies the State Lottery, who have IYMI stuff coming soon too. I'm pretty sure this is the most we've had on the couch so far. Stay tuned for a deluge of content.

A shout out from Tom & Carly to their friends doing really incredible stuff for the DIY music scene in Ohio.

Let me just remark that Vietnam Werewolf is an amazing band name. Incredible even. They also happen to be a totally bitchin' punk rock band that calls Cleveland Rock City home and have that cruddy and jumbled up punk sound that so many of the bands I grew up listening to had; in other words, I love this sort of shit. Raw, abrasive, and shitty but so much fun and so damn awesome.

Super energetic punk from Ohio. This is off their semi-recent full length "Don't Laugh". These 3 are some of the best people out there, so catch them next time they are on tour, or whenever you are in Columbus.

At the Chop Chop gallery in Columbus, Ohio. They played a set comprised of all new songs, which was pretty amazing itself. This space is the home of Shout Out Loud printing, which does awesome screenprinting. Check them out in the link section.

This is the last recording I did on tour, and one of my favorites. It was done in the amazing Chop Chop gallery in Columbus, Ohio, after a fun night of music and the gadabout film fest.
Check out AW's split with Andy Cook, another IYMI alumni.

From Columbus, Ohio, comes two awesome individuals named Ryan and Lisa. We've been talking about doing a LTTM Pink Couch for a while, but it's been hard getting them this way over the last two years. They recently did a tour with local buddies, Saint Seneca, who also recorded that day. So look forward to that!
You might also know Ryan from the threesome Delay, who are also from Columbus. They also have a big hand in running the amazing Bereafest...

Another video from this year's Berea Fest in Berea, Ohio. Sorry about the crazy camera movements, I didn't have my tripod and I had to hold the camera over my head. This is off their 5 Song EP "Have You Heard?"

I filmed this video almost a year ago when they were on tour with Virgins. Since then Ryan has moved to Brooklyn, and started Stolen Parts with a few notable dudes around here.
Annoyingly, I kept forgetting the name of the song each time he told me, and it also got lost in the bowels of the Dailymotion vault.
This is from their split with Ohio's Delay.

Annabel is a band from Kent, Ohio and on Now That We're Alive (their debut EP) they sound what I'd imagine the Get Up Kids might have sounded like if they listened to a little more shoegaze and a little less hardcore when they were teenagers. In other words, Annabel's Now That We're Alive EP, is a gooey little slice of melodic indie-pop that sounds familiar but fresh. the five songs on the EP Annabel show that Annabel can do...

This is the new project from Steve of the Sidekicks and Pat of Shout Out Loud Prints. I've loved everything that these two have done in the past, and this is no exception.
This from a split with Columbus Ohio's Amelia.

One of my favorite bands to come out of New Paltz, NY. They recorded way more than I thought they did, although some of it, like the Tin Armor split never saw the light of day. I've wanted to have these songs up ever since I started this section of the site.
Now to talk Jared into getting some Frame up in here.

I saw Matt play about a year ago when I was in Columbus for a show. Since then he's recorded a split with Andy Cook, and this amazing 9 song gem of a record. One of the first things that popped into my head was its resemblance to Davey von Bohlen's band Vermont, or even some of the more laid back Promise Ring songs.
Rhetoric also contains the recorded version of the Pink Couch Matt did for "Bricks". This...

If you like your punk with a twinge of folk and tons of bounce, then you should definitely check out Two Hand Fools. It reminds me of Punkin Pie, and would easily fit in with the PIX roster.

Bereafest embodies exactly what music is about, local communities banding together to promote something they love. Supported by berea and friends, this is something that will hopefully be around for a while.
Each year raises money for a fundraiser. Last year they raised 1700 for the Berea Children's Home.
Bands that have played there include Bridge and Tunnel, Lemuria, Defiance, Ohio, Ghost Town Trio and many more.

I've always had a soft spot for Cleveland, ever since my first tour with Air Raid Barcelona & Frame. Since then, I've gone back a handful of times and always been excited about the new bands they've formed. The newest one sprung from the recent demise of Vietnam Werewolf, with Jon and Andy picking up two new recruits.
This 4 song EP runs the gamut of pop punk, and it's amazing. It sounds like the perfect pairing of Vietnam...

Ava Luna was first brought up in my interview with Laura Stevenson. Since then I've been trading emails back and forth with them about having them over for a Pink Couch.
This is the 1st recording to use a drum machine, and they also were able to fit 7 people on the couch, beating out Defiance, Ohio. The music flows together perfectly, it's amazing how little I had to do. Definitely check this band out.

Theo is the ringleader of Athen's Nana Grizol and also the tight-rope walker in Defiance, Ohio. Check him out on Elephant Six's Holiday Suprise Tour in March.
Okay sorry this Valentines Edition of Music Mondays is running a little on the later side!! I realized after putting it together that the common thread of my selections (besides the phenomenal Cyndi Lauper video) is that they are all bands who Nana Grizol has played with on...

THF came by with fellow Ohioans Annabel about a month ago. This song is off of their upcoming full length "House Parts" which should be coming out really soon on Sidejar Records. You can hear two songs at their Facebook page.
I think I'm getting the hang of this new camera. Calvinball is up next!

This record was recorded in April 2010 with a backing band consisting of members of Nana Grizol, Hot New Mexicans, Grape Soda, Madeline, Elf Power, Defiance Ohio, and more. The production on this record is great and is perfect fans of any of the aforementioned bands.
I want to write more but my internet connection is totally bunk. At this point you probably know about Spoonboy or his band The Max Levine Ensemble. This was also released on vinyl by...

In honor of their newest release "Awkward Breeds", we have a brand new Pink Couch from Ohio's The Sidekicks.
I can attest to the fact that their new record is amazing, and you should all do yourselves a favor and preorder the new record. You can order it on vinyl from Really Records and on CD from Red Scare Industries along with their "Grace" 7 inch.
