Vio/Miré-Shrinking Coasts
Thanks to the last minute recommendation of Joanne from Obsession Collection, I was able to have these 3 lovely people over to record. Vio/Miré is the solo project from Brendan Glasson, a Providence, Rhode Island native. He's joined on the couch by Liz Isenberg, who recently accompanied Deer Tick on tour as a guest vocalist.

They are currently on...

Everyone Everywhere-A Lot of Weird People Standing Around
I vaguely knew of EE existing over last couple of years, and am making up for it now by listening to this EP over and over.

One of the first bands that this reminded me of was The Progress, which is funny because EE is on the same label with the singer's new band Into...

Walter Schreifels-Open Letter to the Scene
Before going the solo route, Walter was part of some seminal New York bands over the last 20 years including Gorilla Biscuits, Youth of Today, Quicksand, Rival Schools, and Walking Concert.

Football, Etc-First Down
Lindsay and Mercy returned recently to play two Tin Kitchen reunion shows with good buddies P.S. Eliot. I've always wanted to have her over to record, but Houston isn't the closest city to New York.

If you like what you hear, you can also download Football, etc and Tin Kitchen's records in the Album section.

Salinas Records-Label

Salinas has put out so many great records over the years that cannot be pigeonholed, and it's all ran out of...

Ava Luna-Past the Barbary
Ava Luna was first brought up in my interview with Laura Stevenson. Since then I've been trading emails back and forth with them about having them over for a Pink Couch.

This is the 1st recording to use a drum machine, and they also were able to fit 7 people on the couch, beating out Defiance, Ohio. The music...

The Holy Mess-DISMOUNT
When asked for a description of this band, Justin August of Punknews said "I'd say Banner Pilot, Loved Ones, Lawrence Arms and the Menzingers having a naked twister orgy lubed up by Natty Boh." I was with him until the very end. That's way too many people playing Twister.

If you are fan of late 90's/early 00's Fat Wreck,...
