meversuseverything! http://www.ifyoumakeit.com/forum/discussion/336/meversuseverything Mon, 19 Apr 2010 19:10:19 -0600 meversuseverything 336@/forum/discussions I know it's gauche to shamelessly self-promote, but that's what I'm about to do.

meversuseverything! is my one-man DIY band. I write and record everything myself. I started this band after a friend of mine showed me some of the tunes he's been making in Korea. It kind of got me back into the groove of writing and recording music. It's just me, so i don't know if it counts as an actual "band" worthy of a "name" or not, but i'd rather have a band name than a pseudonym. So with that being said, hi! I'm meversuseverything!

check out my EPs(i have two of them) and download them for FREE(!) at http://www.thesixtyone.com/#/meversuseverything/

Shameless advertisement of my friend's band (Nzeexruos) http://www.ifyoumakeit.com/forum/discussion/335/shameless-advertisement-of-my-friends-band-nzeexruos Thu, 15 Apr 2010 02:48:44 -0600 Cole 335@/forum/discussions I'm shamelessly plugging my friend Shawn's band, Nzeexruos. They've been around for a relatively long time here on Guam, and they sound like the badass orgy-spawn of Screeching Weasel, Nirvana, and maybe even Punkin Pie (but that's only because their recording equipment sucks ass.) Go check them out, please and thank you.

IMO, Shoelaces Devine and Gemini Elf are their best songs. If you want their demo, I think you'd have to ask them about it via comments....

Late Nite Wars http://www.ifyoumakeit.com/forum/discussion/75/late-nite-wars Thu, 06 Aug 2009 15:51:54 -0600 StereoSounds26 75@/forum/discussions I think that the band Late Nite Wars is a really good band. I thought that their music might not be all that good because one of the members was on The Real World. (i just have this thing in my head that people on The Real World might not be very good musicians...I'm not sure why.) but to my surprise their music was really good. Does anyone think the same?

www.myspace.com/latenitewars If you havnt heard them check them out. They're a pretty good band.

Ten Songs Podcast#16-punkHC”radio show”(Sauna Youth set,Reigning Sound,Pink Couch sesh tracks) http://www.ifyoumakeit.com/forum/discussion/331/ten-songs-podcast16punkhcradio-showsauna-youth-setreigning-soundpink-couch-sesh-tracks Fri, 02 Apr 2010 04:25:02 -0600 philchokeword 331@/forum/discussions So this month’s been a bit mental again. Oh well, better to be busy than not, which is why this show is almost late... that and audacity crashing and me losing everything. Anyhow, this time out, there’s a live set from Sauna Youth, who are one of my favourite UK bands at the moment. They play rad garage punk with a sweet poppy vibe and neat reverby sounds. I defy you not to nod along.

As well as this, there’s a couple of tracks taken from the Pink Couch Session section of the If You Make It website (tracks from Bridge & Tunnel and Austin Lucas).

Finally there’s a bunch of other rad tunes from Direct Control, Violent Arrest, Give Up The Ghost, Unity, Imperial Can, Psyched To Die, The Short Cuts and Reigning Sound. I’m really stoked on how this show came out in the end.

As always you can subscribe, stream or download the show as an mp3 for free from http://tensongspodcast.blogspot.com.

I've been finding so many ace bands via IYMI for ages now, so thought i'd just do a cheeky plug for my band. We're a four-piece punk band from England and we reckon we're kinda similar to quite a few bands on here, hopefully without just being the same! We're coming over to Florida to play Fest 8 so if anyone on here is heading there and likes what they hear we'd be very grateful if you came and checked us out.

Our myspace is - here

That's about it really, cheers!

4 new 7"s in the Kiss Of Death Store http://www.ifyoumakeit.com/forum/discussion/320/4-new-7s-in-the-kiss-of-death-store Fri, 19 Mar 2010 13:10:38 -0600 kissofdeath 320@/forum/discussions Three New Releases in the KOD Store!

Kiss of Death is proud to announce three new releases today! See when we have a few records that are coming out around the same time, we like to put them all up for sale together. This way if you want to order a couple, or all of them, you'll save a few bucks on shipping. Check out the details below:

KOD053.jpg

KOD 53 - O' Pioneers/The Anchor split 7"

This is a rerelease of the split 7” that was originally put out in 2008 with snazzier artwork. Side A showcases O Pioneers in their original 2 piece lineup and the song starts out as a midtempo jaunt of punk rock energy before careening down the road to darker and more dissonant territory. This song features Eric Soloman at his most furious and accusatory as he shouts his frustration at people that won’t stand up for themselves. The Anchor brings a couple of tracks of gruff punk featuring bouncing basslines and hoarsely shouted vocals to their side of the split. I’d imagine that if Jersey’s Best Dancers and Forever and Counting had a baby, it would look a lot like these songs by The Anchor.

kod051.jpg

KOD 51 - Fellow Project/Thousandaires split 7"

Somewhere between angular post-punk and straight up punk rock lays Fellow Project. Featuring members of Bridge and Tunnel, the band’s songs feature jangly riffs, staggered tempos, monumental buildups and good old upbeat sing-alongs with male and female dueling vocals. They sound novel and familiar all at the same time. Thousandaires approach the same idea with a slightly more upbeat and straightforward take. The vocals call to mind early Hot Water Music, but the song writing is less traditional and more punk at the same time. Noodling guitars scale the fretboards, but not in a crummy tech metal way. This shit is still punk.

KOD-048-animated.gif

KOD 48 - Pretty Boy Thorson and the Slow Death/The Strait A's split 7"

It’s Minneapolis meets Minneapolis on this 6 song split 7” full of catchy pop punk. If you like “Ohhhs,” “Ahhhs,” and dueling male/female vocals then the 4 tracks of fast-paced Ramones style pop punk that The Strait A’s bring to this split are going to be right up your alley. Complete with songs about brainless friends and revenge on an ex, this stuff is just pissed enough to avoid sounding too sugary. Pretty Boy Thorson brings a similar Lookout Records styled approach to their first of their tracks. It’s just as catchy but with a more deliberate pace and a gruffer vocal approach. They close out the record with a cover of “Ray of Sunshine” by short-lived Berkeley based band Go Sailor.

We also have very few copies of the New Bruises/The Measure (sa) - split 7" (1 7" version).

Don't forget to check out a lot of our newest releases and distro items. I marked down a lot of stuff and there are a ton of sales going on. To get all of this stuff go to our STORE.

I am ill and broken and poor. But it was all worth it. I made it back to Berlin and hung out with some great people, ate some great food, and saw the sights. I saw some awesome bands this month like Vitamin X, Billy Bragg, Brothers and Sauna Youth (all in the last 7 days actually...). And I picked up a stack of sweet records. Good times, these.

Anyhow, this is March’s show and there’s the usual mix of punk and hardcore with tracks from Vivian Girls, Psyched To Die, Bloody Gears, 86 Mentality, Social Circkle, Nobunny, This is My Fist, Pinhead Gunpowder, Wegrowbeards and Cynics. There’s also another live set – this time of my band Like Grenades that might be of interest to anyone who likes 80’s hardcore with a slight garage influence. Thanks to Rich Smith as always for making that happen and for his support in keeping this part of the show going.

You can download the show as an MP3, stream it or subscribe to the podcast for free using iTunes and other podcast catchers at http://tensongspodcast.blogspot.com/
