Events•i think the west coast needs more "fests"

  • most fest on the west coast are alot of freak folk bands and coachella-esque names. i think we need something along the lines of gainsville status, "the Fest" i know most folk punk bands are in the midwest and on the eastcoast. so i want to start the idea of a festival in california. I live in san diego but i know alot of people who would drive up to see bands of the caliber that play gainesville fest. and doing the same shit they do. i just think the westcoast is in need. i think everyone is scared of hipsters or whatever. but who cares about labels. play here

  • i am an east coast-to-west coast convert, so i've seen both sides of the coin here. the truth is, california has been totally lagging in a lot of ways, and for a lot of reasons, since the late 90s when the 3rd wave ska boom came crashing down.

    the scene is just really, really weird here. i guess that kind of makes sense though when you consider that california in general is a really, really weird place. so i say go for it, i'm sure kids here will take whatever they can get at this point.

  • I agree with this discussion. There are some great shows that happen in California, but we need more fest-like things.

  • We really do. Ive lived in Orange County my entire life and every time the Fest in Gainesville rolls around it saddens me inside. Like above, there are some great shows here, im not going to completely down on CA, but come on.

  • Anyone go to the North Park Awesome Fun Fast? Couldn't make it cause I think it was labor day weekend or something but whatever, enough excuses. It had a pretty good lineup.   • Agreed. Iv been living in Orange County my whole life, the scene here sucks. I am one hundred percent down to get a legit fest here, ala north park awesome fast. lets do it.
