This is a fine example of what I love about If You Make It. This was a band I had previously not heard of. I watched their pink couch, loved it, and now am a fan of the band. This song rules. I've heard this kind of story from many people who are finding new bands of interest on this site.
I was a big fan of the Gibbons, and have always loved Bobby's voice. This is the best of many worlds, combining people I really like with music that is undeniably amazing. This is one of my favorite things to come out last year.
To be fair, I was apart of making these movies, but, honestly, we didn't expect them to come out as good as they did. I had a ton of fun making them, and am happy they have found a home on IYMI
This is a great song, and a fun pink couch session. With the world so over crowded with singer/songerwriter acoustic dudes (author included), it's nice to hear someone like Matt play. He's got an amazing and powerful voice and sincerity in his song writing.
I got to see Heathers play after I had already been listening to their cd, and watching them play and getting to spend some time with them made me like them even more. They are excited about what they are doing, and should be.
If you've ever gotten a chance to meet these folks, and have a conversation with them, then you know that they are total dorks, in the most amazing sense of the word. They love playing music. They are grateful and genuine, and on top of that, their band rules. A rarity these days.
What can be said that hasn't? Well...these are some of my favorite people, and one of my favorite pink couches. Good Luck smashed onto the scene, and was an immediate favorite. They are very focused, and put a lot of work into fine tuning their songs and lyrics. It seems their hard work pays off.
This was from the first show of our JYD tour; super bobby, paul, and myslef. This show was a ton of fun. I was staying in Gainesville at the time, and have fond memories. This turned into a weird party that I was excited to leave, but...it was still a lot of fun.
Another band I didn't know much about until IYMI. They are pretty amazing. Extremely talented, and all members are bringing their A-game. This is a band I can watch any member play and be like "oh hell no!"
Eric's been spreading the love of short film with the Gadabout since 2002. He is also a musician, and between his solo music, Halo Fauna, and the film fest, he stays on the road over 6 months out of the year. You may have met him, he smiles a lot.
If You Make It is everything I love about the DIY scene. It's filled with people and bands that clearly love what they are doing, and content that is routinely amazing. It's a video site with quality control. Dave is extremely talented, and works really hard on this site. We all owe him a round of sclitz or Andre.
